Project & Artist
Information
"I would like young men to see that
beads are not the exclusive domain of women. There is no activity that is exclusive to gender, especially art."
Edwin Batres
Loving wings Pendant
Required stitches: Peyote & craw
MATERIALS AVAILABLE À LA CARTE
Edwin Batres has been beading for over ten years. He discovered the beading world when he met his teacher and mentor, Aurelio Castano.
Edwin experimented with different art media, eventually finding his passion in beadweaving. Currently, He runs ACL PATTERNS & MORE, an online Etsy shop that specializes in the sale of beading patterns, beads, and findings.
Edwin is a bilingual bead weaving teacher who holds classes throughout the northeast and in South America. Edwin‘s work has been published in multiple international beading magazines including Bead & Button, Beading Polska, Perlen Poesie, and Beadwork Magazine, among many others.
The LOVING WINGS pendant uses Delica
beads which create a delicate, meaningful,
and beautiful pendant. It measures 2.5” x 1”, plus
the chain in your desired length and
metal tone.
It symbolizes Edwin’s gratitude to those who have made sacrifices and worked hard to make our world a better place where future generations can
prosper and thrive.
"I've had an obsession with
jewelry my whole life! I adore designing pieces that have a fine jewelry feel without breaking the budget."
Carmelina Calabrese
THE SERAFINA BRACELET
required Stitches: square, RAW & Netting
kit Price: $ 78
Working in the jewelry industry for many years
sparked Carmelina's interest in designing jewelry.
From teaching classes to having her pieces published
in both national and international beadwork magazines, Carmelina
has turned her hobby into a true passion.
Her skill and love for teaching has transformed her
many students into lifelong bead weaving enthusiasts!
In this class you will create a stunning statement bracelet using a combination of square stitch, RAW, and netting. Carmelina designed a bracelet that uses crystal pearls in a larger size for a bolder look. Carmelina was inspired to name her beautiful piece, “Serafina“ after the Italian name for angels. The large pearls surrounded by a ring of beads is representative of a halo. Chatons, three sizes of crystal pearls, bicones, and seed beads are used to create this eye catching and one-of-a-kind bracelet.
“I always had a fascination with the natural world, equally with art.”
